It’s all looking positive as Wagamama touches down at London Heathrow T5 – 14/06/07

UK. London Heathrow Terminal Five is set to further tempt passenger tastebuds when it opens in March 2008 with the signing of Carluccio’s and Wagamama restaurants to complement Gordon Ramsay, Apostrophe and Giraffe.

Wagamama, the award-winning Japanese noodle restaurant, will be bringing its signature ‘positive eating + positive living’ approach to a BAA airport for the first time. BAA said that Wagamama will “effortlessly span” the T5 customer base, targeting everyone from families through to business professionals. The chain was shortlisted by leading London listings magazine Time Out for “˜best family restaurant’ in the capital.

Wagamama prepares to bring ‘positive eating’ to Heathrow

Like the best traditional Asian and oriental kitchens, Wagamama only uses the freshest ingredients to produce fast and nutritious dishes. Modelled on the ramen shops popular in Japan for over 200 years, it offers an exciting menu with a wide range of signature noodles, rice, meat and vegetable dishes.

Terminal Five will feature an exclusive breakfast menu offering something different – traditional Japanese dishes that will range from teppan fried soba noodles with dried cured bacon, white onion, mushroom and egg with tsuya sauce to coconut cream porridge. Traditionalists can opt for a more straightforward full English breakfast, or the Canadian and US favourite of pancakes and maple syrup.

For those who enjoy simple, authentic Italian cooking, Carluccio’s will feature a welcoming, bustling café environment in which to enjoy dishes packed with freshness and the best Italian flavours.

The Carluccio’s in T5 follows the unique concept of a café where customers can tuck into quality regional Italian food and then wander through the deli, browsing the Italian ingredients used throughout the menu. Produce is sourced from all over Italy: pasta from Puglia, capers from Calabria, olive oil from Sicily and risotto rice from the Veneto.

Seasonality drives Carluccio’s menu and the dishes are updated throughout the year. For those short of time the “˜grab and go’ offers will be the perfect option.

BAA’s Head of Category for Food and Beverage Catherine Peachey explained: “The blend of aromas, tastes and freshness delivered by each of our new restaurant partners will deliver an experience that will kick-start any trip abroad. We’re really proud of the ‘something for everyone’ philosophy that sits at the heart of the T5 eating and drinking experience and we have worked hard with our business partners to bring this to life in a way that will really excite and satisfy our customers.”
