JAPAN. The new Chubu International Airport in Nagoya, known as Centrair, handled a total of 10,989,510 passengers between its opening in February and December 2005. Of these, 4,649,036 passengers flew on international routes, with each month recording double-digit increases.
While there are no previous annual figures to compare with, Chubu International Airport Authority showed that each month posted increases ranging from single- to double-digit levels (if compared with Nagoya Airport).
Aircraft movements reached 92,048 in total. Each month generated double-digit decreases, according to the authority. Of the total, 30,863 were for international airlines.
