SAUDI ARABIA. A consortium led by Lagardère Travel Retail together with Saudi Airlines Catering Company (SACC), and Arabian Ground Handling Logistic Company, has been awarded the concession contract to operate 1,834sq m of commercial space at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam.
The five-year contract will provide Lagardère Travel Retail with the opportunity to operate two Aelia Duty Free stores from 2017.
The 1,337sq m and 479sq m stores will offer a range of beauty products, confectionery, foodstuffs, electronics, fashion & luxury, watches & sunglasses, toys, local products and souvenirs.

“The new contract is a continuation to our successful partnership, which already has resulted in General Authority of Civil Aviation awarding us the concession to operate duty free shops in King Khalid International Airport’s Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 in Riyadh” – Saudi Airlines Catering CEO Wajdy Al-Ghabban
Lagardère Travel Retail Chairman and CEO Dag Rasmussen said: “Lagardère Travel Retail is extremely proud to be awarded a very significant concession in King Fahd International Airport in Dammam. This award is a mark of confidence from Dammam King Fahd International Airport and a proof of the success of our development strategy in the Middle East. It is also a great illustration of the professionalism of our partners, who took a very active part in this achievement.”
As reported, a similar consortium was recently awarded the contract to operate 2,040sq m of duty free space at Riyadh King Khaled International Airport T1 and T2.
Saudi Airlines Catering CEO Wajdy Al-Ghabban commented: “The new contract of KFIA duty free is a continuation to our successful partnership, which already has resulted in General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) awarding us the concession to operate duty free shops in King Khalid International Airport’s Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 in Riyadh. It is clear that our co-operation is on solid ground and meeting the high expectations and international standards set by GACA.”
