SWEDEN. Lambretta Watches has achieved a new listing for its watch brand onboard Virgin Atlantic from November 2009.
The retro brand is inspired by the original colours and designs of Lambretta scooters, which became popular in the 1950s and 60s.
The watch collection already has a clutch of inflight listings across Europe, the Middle East and Asia, including Emirates, Etihad, Qatar Airways, Kingfisher, Monarch and Spanair.
Among Lambretta Watches’ best-selling lines in travel retail is the functional racing watch with 19 world time zones.
Speaking to The Moodie Report at the 2009 TFWA Asia Pacific show in Singapore, Lambretta Watches CEO Jonas Dahlgren said: “Lambretta watches make a statement with their colours and design. They are a fashion accessory; it’s all about personal branding. They are high quality fashion watches with a nice, innovative design and they are an affordable luxury.”

Lambretta Watches retail from €50 to €250, but the core collection is €100-150, said Dahlgren.
Models play on unique design details such as the Lambretta scooter’s speedometer and tripmeter. New for 2009 is a collection of racing watches and the Cielo range of affordable candy-coloured watches, which retail at around €50.
The fashion watches are targeted at 20 to 35 year olds, but the company also offers a mechanical watch for the more mature customer who lived through the Lambretta scooter’s heyday.
