Lavazza enters Nordic market at Stockholm Arlanda Airport

SWEDEN. SSP and Lavazza have teamed up to launch the Espression café and restaurant at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, marking the brand’s debut in the Nordic market.

The Italian concept will open in the Terminal 2 Departure Hall as part of a major refurbishment of the terminal.

The two-story café and restaurant serves a range of Italian food and drink, each of which has been chosen exclusively for the Espression concept. Coffees are made with Tierra, a blend of 100% Arabica beans certified by the Rainforest Alliance.

The décor is described as youthful, modern and up-scale. The walls of the 130-seat outlet feature images from well-known photographers including Annie Leibovitz, Mark Seliger and Ellen von Unwerth. Pictures were selected from calendars published by Lavazza over the past 20 years.

“Our menu is based on the traditional Italian flavours that Swedes love, served in an innovative and contemporary style,” said Lavazza Nordic CEO Robert Ameln. “With our passion for design, and supported by one of the world’s most comprehensive barista training programmes, we can offer that little bit extra when it comes to taste, service and atmosphere.”

SSP Sweden Managing Director Lars Edengréen added: “SSP and Lavazza share a dedication to offering the very best concepts to meet the ever rising demand for the highest quality coffee, food and service. We’re pleased to be able to offer this exciting new facility to the travellers of Arlanda, and we’re certain it will give them even more reasons to come early to the terminal to enjoy a coffee before their flight.”

Roel Huinink, Managing Director of Arlanda Schiphol Development Company and responsible for retail, F&B and commercial services at Stockholm Arlanda and Gothenburg Landvetter airports, stated that the new development is a reflection of the airport’s strong commitment to increasing customer satisfaction.

“Together with our commercial partners, our aim is to create the most attractive choice for passengers,” he said. “The modern environment and the exciting range of concepts will make Terminal 2 an even more inspiring venue, and we are very proud to welcome Lavazza Espression to our airport.”

All the staff working at the unit will be trained at the Lavazza Training Centres in Turin and Stockholm. The new outlet was designed by Lorenzo Marini and Crea International.
