L’Oréal promotes Nicolas Hieronimus; parts ways with Stella McCartney

Nicolas Hieronimus: L’Oréal’s new President Selective Divisions

L’Oréal has announced a number of appointments to its Executive Committee, effective 1 July. Notably, Nicolas Hieronimus has been named President Selective Divisions and will oversee Luxury, Active Cosmetics, Professional Products and The Body Shop.

Jean-Jacques Lebel, President Consumer Products Division, is retiring, and will be replaced by Executive Vice-President Strategic Marketing Marc Menesguen. Three new Zones have been created: the Americas, headed by Frédéric Rozé; Eastern Europe, headed by Alexandre Popoff; and Western Europe, headed by Jochen Zaumseil. Alexis Perakis-Valat has been appointed Executive Vice-President Asia Pacific Zone.

Hieronimus’s new role was created in order to “accelerate the group’s development in all retail distribution networks, leveraging its expertise in each of the distribution channels”, the company said.

Hieronimus joined L’Oréal at the age of 23. He spent 18 years in the Consumer Products Division, during which time he held the positions of General Manager of Garnier in the UK and subsequently L’Oréal Paris in France, before creating the international L’Oréal Paris brand which he managed for nearly five years.

In 2005, he was appointed Managing Director of L’Oréal in Mexico, with responsibility for all the Group’s Divisions. In 2008, he was appointed Managing Director of the Professional Products Division, before becoming President L’Oréal Luxe in January 2011. Hieronimus will continue to directly lead that division.

In other news, YSL Beauté (part of L’Oréal Luxe) and Stella McCartney have mutually decided not to renew their licence agreement when the current contract ends on 12 September, L’Oréal has confirmed.

“As a result of their mutual decision, L’Oréal will focus on concentrating on its other brands while Stella McCartney will pursue its fragrance and beauty business,” noted the group.
