Luxottica partners with Heinemann in Ray-Ban corner at Frankfurt Airport

Luxottica Global Channels has extended its partnership with Gebr Heinemann with the opening of a dedicated Ray-Ban corner at Frankfurt Airport Terminal 1A+ (Schengen).

This is the latest Ray-Ban corner concept rolled out with Gebr Heinemann, following openings at Istanbul Atatürk, Oslo, Moscow Sheremetyevo and Munich airports. Four more corners are planned for the coming months.

The Ray-Ban corner, with its brick wall design and extensive offers, has become “a retail hotspot,” says Gebr Heinemann

The outlet showcases Ray-Ban’s Icon, Polarized, Tech and Lifestyle ranges, along with a selection of Ray-Ban Junior sunglasses, and features a polarised tester which allows shoppers to experience the advantages of Ray-Ban’s polarised lenses.

The personalised corner is part of the revamped sunglasses zone, which has been relocated within the Heinemann Duty Free walk-through store for higher visibility to passengers. It has been expanded from 19sq m to 54sq m, increasing the number of SKUs under the Luxottica umbrella by +94% and the total sunglasses category by +108%.

Luxottica Head of Global Channels Francis Gros said: “As the world’s most famous sun eyewear brand, Ray-Ban has proven to be an effective anchor for the sunglasses category. At Frankfurt, first month sales of Ray-Ban have almost doubled since the installation of the personalised unit and Luxottica brands are up +62% in the new and improved sunglasses area. The success of our corner concepts validates our multi-formatting strategy, which we will continue to push in travel retail, and I want to thank Heinemann for believing in our vision to grow the overall sunglasses category.”

Gebr Heinemann Director Premium & Luxury Fashion Jan Richter added: “Gebr Heinemann is strongly committed to the sunglasses category. The project to redevelop our sunglasses zone has been in place since the beginning of 2015, and since then we have transformed the space, previously occupied by another fashion category, into a key retail hotspot for shoppers. The Ray-Ban corner, with its striking brick wall design and extensive product selection, is a real draw for Frankfurt travellers and we look forward to more openings with Luxottica in the near future.”
