INTERNATIONAL/UAE. An impressive line-up of 56 travel retail industry executives will be participating in the “˜Miles for Smiles’ fun run in Dubai on 22 November to raise funds for cleft charity The Smile Train.
The event is being organised by Rowena Holland of Essential Communications, Mandy Shine of The Moodie Report and Nadine Heubel of Gebr Heinemann.

Only a few more places are available. Each participant has the choice of a 10k run or a 5k walk. Each is seeking sponsorship for The Smile Train – it costs just US$250 to fund the life-changing 45-minute operation that so transforms a child’s life in emerging countries.
Potential sponsors can contact the participants directly while there are already 13 fundraising pages set up on the www.JustGiving.com site (e.g. www.justgiving.com/rowenaholland or www.justgiving.com/MandyShine) which are linked via the tag: the travel retail smiletrain run. Already those pages have raised over US$25,000 – enough to fund operations on 100 children. There is much more to come.
Donors have the choice of sponsoring the event as a whole – or individual participants. The Nuance Group, for example, rightly sceptical about The Moodie Report Publisher’s ability to finish the race, is sponsoring him at £100 per kilometre completed.
Miles for Smiles takes place on Saturday 22 November in Dubai commencing at 0800 hrs. The annual Dubai Duty Free Golf World Cup Tournament then takes place on 23 and 24 November and the MEDFA conference follows in Abu Dhabi on 25 and 26 November.
