GERMANY. Gadget manufacturer Minox aimed to stun buyers at Cannes with a miniaturised version of the Leica M3 classic camera from the Fifties.

With a resolution of 4.0 mega pixels, the camera is simple and fast to operate – and fits in the palm of your hand. Pictures can be downloaded onto a PC with the cable supplied, and an LCD display tells the user how many shots have been taken.

Also on offer to buyers was the round, flat DD1 digital camera which weighs just 90 grams and measures 75mm in diameter. It has a 2.1 megapixel chip and comes with a USB connection.

A wide range of other high-performance digital cameras and night vision telescopes were also featured on the Minox stand.
