MiTone, owned by airport retailer Capi-Lux, has set its sights on becoming Europe’s leading duty free brand in electronics, according to MiTone General Manager Ron Bol.
MiTone’s product portfolio is specifically tailored to the travelling consumer – whether they are holidaymakers or business travellers. The range includes cameras, audio equipment, computer peripherals and other small electronics, which come in fashionable and colourful styles designed to appeal to women and children as well.
MiTone’s products are offered in the affordable price range and have a clear quality look-and-feel, Bol said. “MiTone offers duty free retailers the option of highlighting not only high-end products, but also a clear and recognisable low price offering. MiTone’s product portfolio changes rapidly and new items are added frequently. Even frequent flyers will have a good reason to re-visit stores offering MiTone, because something new and exciting will regularly be available.”

Key to the value that MiTone offers, Bol believes, is the fact that its products will remain exclusively available at duty free outlets. “MiTone will never be sold downtown. This is unique and stands out from the low price offering seen at malls and shops in Europe. Duty free retailers will notice and appreciate this. MiTone clearly offers a competitive edge,” he said.
MiTone has been available exclusively in the stores of Capi in Europe and South Africa, but now the brand is branching out to other duty free retailers. “We will be offering our products to duty free retailers at airports, aboard cruise ships and at other outlets via Capi Trading. We are confident that MiTone’s product range will provide duty free retailers with a valuable addition to their product portfolio and one on which they can achieve a healthy margin,” Bol enthused.
