JAMAICA. Motta Internacional has revealed details of its successful bid for the duty free perfume & cosmetics shop to be opened amid phase one of the terminal expansion at Sangster International Airport (SIA) in Montego Bay.
Motta Internacional was awarded the tender to run the 128sq m store in a joint venture with its existing operation in SIA, Hemisphere Shops Limited, which currently operates the airport’s only perfume and cosmetics store. The new concession runs for six years.
The initial development at SIA is part of a two phase expansion and renovation and is scheduled to open in December 2005. Phase 1 will contain 11 of the 18 boarding gates including gates designed to handle wide-bodied aircraft. Sangster International Airport currently handles between 1,800 and 2,000 passengers per peak hour, and services over 3 million passengers per year. Upon the completion of both phases, SIA will have the capacity to handle up to 3,000 passengers per peak hour.
