NETHERLANDS. Supply chain specialist Nabuurs is introducing 1Freight, a consolidation platform to combine small deliveries in full containers for duty free and travel retail stores.
Nabuurs, one of the largest logistics service providers across the Benelux region, has launched 1Freight – which is specifically aimed at the global travel retail market – in response to the increasing demand for small stock volumes as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

1Freight allows the combination of quantities of products from multiple suppliers in one container to bring greater efficiency to transport by sea.
Nabuurs collects the pallets from the manufacturers and combines them into a full and conditioned container in such a way that products stored at different temperatures can be transported together, such as chocolate and clothing.
Director Ard Nabuurs said: “1Freight fits seamlessly with our strategy for a future-proof supply chain. You see that duty free shops want to sell a broader range of different products, but that shelf life is also important. People therefore want to have less in stock, so they prefer to order small quantities at once instead of large containers.
“We want to meet the needs of the market, for us it is important that the end customer benefits from our solution. We aim for what is good for the future. For example, we see the transition to new fuels around us. That is why we offer sustainable concepts such as 1Freight, which is in our DNA.”

The transshipment of 1Freight is located directly at the terminal in Katwijk, Netherlands.
Nabuurs added: “We now have a customs warehouse that allows us to offer products from outside the EU. We also work together with our co-packing company Na-Nomi.’’
Nabuurs is a family business founded in 1928 which now has more than 20 branches and 1,000 employees, with an annual turnover of more than €100 million.
