Nestlé International Travel Retail (NITR) will unveil Asia-focused travel retail exclusives celebrating the Chinese Year of the Dragon at TFWA Asia Pacific & Gate ONE2ONE next month. Tins of its Nestlé Swiss and Kit Kat brands, containing 350g of napolitains and 450g of four-finger bars respectively, feature embossed dragon graphics and Asian-oriented colours of red and gold.
The company said the launches follow close cooperation between NITR and retailers across Asia to introduce the supplier’s Perfect Store initiative aimed at increasing penetration, conversion and basket size. NITR Head of Sales Roland Stieger said that retailers need to be aware of the differences between the needs and desires of European and Asian passengers

NITR Customer Marketing Manager Alan Brennan added: “Chinese New Year in particular is an important gifting period and Asian travellers will be looking for customised gifting solutions to celebrate this unique event. These two exclusive tins are designed not just for the New Year but as a whole-year gift sales opportunity.”
Meanwhile the company is introducing many other novelties across its brands. For Nestlé Swiss, it will be showing six new travel exclusive items, including: Swiss Alps, milk and dark chocolate pralines shaped like mountain peaks in tins of 122g and 240g; Swiss Carres, chunky milk or dark chocolates topped with several ingredients – including pineapple and pepper, almonds and orange and cashews and cranberries – available in 160g boxes; and Swiss Tender Rocks, two recipes inspired by chocolate truffles and presented like an avalanche or mountain rocks, in 180g boxes of milk or dark chocolate.
Extending Smarties’ partnership with Disney, a new gift set focuses on the Shrek franchise, with a “˜bobble head’ figurine boxed with five tubes of Smarties. The brand will also introduce a new travel retail exclusive gifting dome tube featuring a game in the dome, in three options: Cars Hit & Loop, Winnie the Pooh Fishing Adventure & Memory Game and Enchanted Princess Set. Each set includes three giant tubes of Smarties.
NITR will also be introducing a new Kit Kat travel retail exclusive 405g mixed pack containing white, milk and dark varieties.
