FIJI. NewsLink has officially opened its first retail outlet at Nadi Airport.
NewsLink owner HDS Retail Asia Pacific (HDS), one of Asia Pacific’s leading travel retailers, has partnered Fiji’s family-owned Tappoo Group in the venture.
The alliance is the result of a branding licence agreement between the two companies. Tappoo has a long-established local knowledge of the Fijian market while HDS brings its global brand and experience to the partnership. The store is located in the landside Departures concourse at Nadi International Airport.
Tappoo Group Executive Chairman Kanti Tappoo said: “The NewsLink outlet was a valuable addition to the range of concessions the Group had besides the major arrivals and departures duty free outlets”.
“The setting up of NewsLink augments the commitment we have to working with the airport authorities in making Nadi International on par with the best in the region.”
The Newslink franchise, he said, was also an example of the commitment to excellence and quality that was the hallmark of the Tappoo Group.
“We are looking forward to further strengthening our strategic relationship with HDS in the Fiji market,” he added.
HDS CEO Scott Raisin said the Nadi NewsLink will provide a wide range of press, books and convenience items for people on the move.
“NewsLink’s opening will mark the start of a significant partnership, with not only the Tappoo Group and the airport but with the extended community who utilise these facilities when travelling for business or leisure.”
