FRANCE. Nice Côte d’Azur Airport has launched Nice Airport Shopping, a click-and-collect marketplace enabling travellers to pre-purchase online and collect their orders at their preferred point within the terminals.
Described as a Europe-first solution, the service went live on 15 September, allowing passengers to shop up to eight hours before departure, with orders available for collection at the duty-free till, in a VIP lounge or at the departure gate.
Tapping into more than 15 million passengers passing through France’s second-busiest airport each year, the programme offers a more flexible way to shop for travellers short on time or luggage space.
The airport company noted that collection from a VIP lounge or directly at the departure gate is not currently available at any other European airport, although similar options are offered at Singapore Changi and several airports in the USA.
The platform offers a broad product selection spanning beauty and fragrance, fine foods and confectionery, and spirits & wine, with multiple payment options and secure transaction processing.
After entering their destination and flight number, passengers see prices adjusted automatically according to the applicable VAT rate, before selecting their preferred collection point.
Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur Commercial Director Candice Cadreils said, “Nice Airport Shopping perfectly meets the needs of many passengers who, for a variety of reasons, are unable to make full use of our retail offering and are disappointed as a result.
“The service provides an unprecedented level of flexibility and service, allowing products to be collected either in a VIP lounge or directly at the departure gate.
“We already had a unique, high-end retail offering; we now have a service to match it.”
The marketplace recorded its first orders shortly after launch, with purchases already being collected at departure lounges.
The service currently offers 7,000 products sourced exclusively from Aelia Duty Free’s airport stores, with other retailers expected to join the platform in the future. ✈
