SWITZERLAND. The Nuance Group has launched a new store concept for electronics at Zürich International Airport. The new “˜Sound & Vision’ concept moves away from traditional category merchandising, to focus on leading brands within the category including Apple and Sony, through shop-in-shop executions in an “easy-to-browse and engaging shop environment”, the retailer said.
The new 75sq m store concept is located on level 1 of Zürich Airport’s Airside Centre. With the heart of the offer centred around a number of “play tables” customers are invited to come into the store and test the latest models of Sony laptops, digital cameras or Apple products including iPods and iBooks. These, along with an extensive choice of accessories from several brands and the service of knowledgeable sales staff form “a compelling product offer”, the company added.
“Traditionally, electronic goods have been sold by specialised staff over the counter,” explained The Nuance Group Zürich General Manager Stephan Salvisberg.
“This new concept invites customers to come in and browse, experiencing the exciting new world these electronic products offer by themselves. Our sales staff are trained to offer advice when required and help with sales decisions. We are convinced that this concept makes electronic goods even more accessible for travellers.”
Zürich International Airport Head Marketing Retail & Services Patrick Graf added: “Many travellers very much enjoy looking at the latest technology. We are pleased to see Nuance offer them an exciting new shopping environment where they can while away their time before a flight in an entertaining way.
“I firmly believe in this combination of retail and entertainment and look forward to seeing even more of it at airports around the world,” Graf said.
The Nuance Group confirmed it is planning to roll out the new concept to other operations within its network at a later stage.
