AUSTRALIA. The Nuance Group Australia will this week unveil bold new branding that will, over time, replace the Downtown Duty Free identity in locations other than Sydney Airport.
F1rst Tax and Duty Free (pictured) is the replacement for the Downtown Duty Free name – one of Asia Pacific’s most familiar travel retail brands.
In February Nuance announced that it was replacing the Downtown branding at Sydney Airport with a new concept, SYD Airport Tax and Duty Free (below), which embraces all the retailer’s tax and duty free operations at the New South Wales gateway.
It said then that it was redesigning all elements of the business to provide customers with the best travel retail experience in the world and to enhance their perception of the value proposition.
Now the retailer is going one significant step further, progressively rolling out the new F1rst Tax and Duty Free concept across most of the group’s other airport and off-airport stores. The first switch will take place at Melbourne Airport on 1 August – when Nuance officially opens its new Departures store. Nuance is the duty free retailer at the Victorian airport.
Business Development Director Australia and New Zealand David Odgers told The Moodie Report: “It’s not just a change of signage; it’s much more meaningful than that. It’s part of a series of initiatives to re-energise the duty free shopping experience for customers in Australia.”
Nuance is the largest player in an Australian duty free market estimated to be worth A$900 million by business newspaper Australian Financial Review this week.
