INDIA. Our latest choice of images comes from the recently opened Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) – part of the Adani Airports Group network – where a statue to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, founder of the Maratha Kingdom in the 17th century, was unveiled on 6 June.
Adani Airports CEO Arun Bansal, NMIA CEO Captain BVJK Sharma and colleagues joined Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis for a special ceremony that honoured one of Maharashtra’s great leaders.

In a social media post, NMIA said the unveiling of the 12-foot bronze statue marked a proud cultural milestone. The NMIA post added, “The installation marks another meaningful step in integrating cultural identity with public spaces at NMIA, creating a landmark that will welcome and inspire passengers and visitors alike.”
In a LinkedIn post, Arun Bansal underlined the significance of the occasion, saying, “As we build a world-class gateway for India, it is equally important that our airports reflect the spirit, heritage and aspirations of the communities they serve.
“The majestic installation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at NMIA stands as a tribute to one of India’s greatest visionaries whose courage, leadership, and commitment to Swarajya (sovereignty) continue to inspire generations.
“As millions of passengers pass through NMIA in the years ahead, this landmark will serve as a powerful reminder of Maharashtra’s rich legacy and enduring values.” ✈
