On Location: Great Britain & Ireland triumph as Dubai Duty Free marks another memorable Shergar Cup at Ascot

UK. The 2026 Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup brought together a stellar international line-up of jockeys and horses at Ascot Racecourse on Saturday (8 August.)

The Moodie Davitt Report Brands Director Hannah Tan was on location at the Panoramic Suite in the King Edward VII Enclosure for the sporting showcase.

Dubai Duty Free was represented by Managing Director Ramesh Cidambi, Senior Vice President Marketing and Sinead El Sibai and Senior Manager Marketing Salim Dahma.

Our guests drawn from multiple sectors including travel retail media, the horseracing industry and commercial partners witnessed a thrilling competition in first class surroundings and very pleasant weather.

“We congratulate the Great Britain & Ireland team on their victory and extend our thanks the all participants who embraced the competition with such great spirit and friendly rivalry.”

Back in winning form: Ryan Moore marked his first Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup appearance in 20 years by claiming the Alistair Haggis Silver Saddle as the competition’s leading jockey

The event featured a revamped line-up this year with the introduction of Team Hong Kong, which joined Great Britain & Ireland, Europe and The Rest of the World.

Team Great Britain & Ireland, captained by Saffie Osborne, won the 2026 Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup.

The team secured 81 points, led by Ryan Moore, who returned to the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup after a 20-year absence.

The three-time UK champion jockey won the Alistair Haggis Silver Saddle trophy as the competition’s leading individual rider with 47 points. Moore had previously claimed the accolade on his Shergar Cup debut in 2006, when he also helped Great Britain & Ireland to victory.

Moore also won the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Challenge aboard Asgard’s Captain and the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Classic on Archers Bay.

Team captain Osborne won the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Sprint aboard Red Spells Danger.

Competition debutants Team Hong Kong made a strong start, with Jerry Chau and Vincent Ho recording a one-two finish in the opening Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Dash.

Luke Ferraris followed with victory in the Dubai Duty Free Shergar Cup Stayers. His performance earned him the Dubai Duty Free Ride of the Day, judged on behalf of the title sponsor by former English and Irish Derby-winning jockey John Reid MBE.

Team Hong Kong ultimately finished with 62 points, level with Europe. The Rest of the World team finished fourth.
