Partner Editorial: ARI Global Head of Marketing Sarah Jane Lynch on the Joy Awaits campaign

Guiding ARI’s global marketing direction provides a unique perspective on how we shape the next chapter of our growth and brand evolution, writes ARI Global Head of Marketing Sarah-Jane Lynch.

This next chapter is centred on elevating the passenger experience and driving strong commercial performance through insight-led, creative retail. Seasonal campaigns play a far more strategic role than simply marking a moment in the calendar. They allow us to demonstrate how meaningful, design-led storytelling can enrich the passenger journey and retail experience, supporting our commercial ambition.

This season, our new global holiday campaign, Joy Awaits, brings this thinking to life. It is a tangible expression of ARI’s brand purpose of creating ‘joy on your way’. It also showcases how thoughtful design and immersive storytelling (in-store and online) can increase passenger satisfaction, dwell time and overall commercial outcomes.

What sets Joy Awaits apart is not only its festive charm but its strategic intent. Every element has been crafted to enhance the end-to-end journey. This includes intuitive navigation, elevated gifting cues, moments of retailtainment and engaging seasonal content across our digital channels. We know that passengers are increasingly seeking emotional connection and seamless experiences within the airport environment. This campaign was built deliberately to meet and exceed those expectations.

We have invested in activations that deliver measurable value. Complimentary gift wrapping, curated gifting destinations, retailtainment moments and digital extensions through our ecommerce and social media platforms are all designed to encourage exploration, support category trade up and reduce friction in the gifting mission.

The Joy Awaits holiday campaign brought to life at Dublin Airport Duty Free

A particularly proud milestone has been the airport-wide execution at Dublin Airport. Through close collaboration with our partners, we delivered a cohesive festive identity that extends far beyond our stores.

This is a model that we are actively scaling across our global estate. When airports and retailers collaborate holistically, it amplifies both the commercial impact and the emotional resonance for passengers. Establishing and growing these collaborative partnerships are a defining characteristic of our business model.

As we continue to evolve ARI’s global marketing capability, Joy Awaits also represents a step change in how we build campaigns. It has been developed through a more globalised operating model, supported by our in-house Creative Studio and enabled by deeper insight, stronger omnichannel planning and closer alignment between central and local teams.

The campaign maintains a consistent and premium global identity while empowering markets to adapt it with cultural nuance and operational agility.

Festive campaigns such as this are not created in isolation. They form part of our wider ambition to transform how passengers engage with airport retail and our efforts to ensure that airport shopping is one of the post anticipated parts of the passenger journey.

This includes blending human experience with digital enablement, elevating sense of place and reinforcing the distinct value – and joy – that duty free brings to passengers across the world.

At ARI, joy is more than a seasonal sentiment. It is a commercial strategy, an experience philosophy and the benchmark that guides our work every day. This holiday season, Joy Awaits brings that ethos to life in a way that is brighter, more connected and more impactful than ever before.
