Penfolds elevates Sydney Airport presence with new-look flagship boutique with Heinemann Oceania

Seeing red: The boutique’s design draws inspiration from Penfolds’ red bottle cap, with layered shades of the signature colour creating a strong visual identity

AUSTRALIA. Penfolds, in partnership with Heinemann Oceania, has unveiled a remodelled boutique at Sydney Airport, marking the debut of the wine brand’s new global retail concept.

Penfolds’ largest store in global travel retail, the 44.6sq m shop-in-shop is located prominently along the international terminal’s main retail walkway. The concept improves visibility, simplifies navigation and enhances the premium wine shopping experience, the company said.

It features dedicated zones showcasing Penfolds’ four countries of origin alongside luxury wines, gifting options and limited releases.

The design takes cues from the brand’s distinctive red bottle cap, with architectural elements and layered shades of red reinforcing its visual identity and luxury positioning.

The boutique offers a flexible customer journey centred around four key objectives: attract, engage, convert and remind.

A feature zone will be regularly updated with new launches, limited editions, seasonal campaigns and gifting occasions. It offers the Penfolds Collection, including Grange and the Penfolds Bins, alongside releases linked to occasions such as Chinese New Year and Christmas.

The feature zone also showcases a selection of travel retail-exclusive (TREX) gift packs, including the Penfolds City Explorer Packs which comprise premium duo gift boxes tailored to 13 different destinations.

The Sydney boutique features two of just 20 bottles worldwide of the limited-edition Penfolds Bin 389 Designed by Troye Sivan 1.5-litre Magnum. The two bottles were allocated to Heinemann Oceania specifically for the Sydney Airport location.

Penfolds Brand Ambassadors guide travellers through the portfolio during the launch period, while a dedicated wrapping service enhances gifting appeal.

The opening was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by representatives from Penfolds, Heinemann Oceania and Sydney Airport.

Heinemann Oceania Managing Director Rosi Fernandez said, “The new Penfolds boutique is exactly the kind of experience we want to create for Sydney Airport, something worth stopping for and, ultimately, worth travelling for.

“It brings together an iconic Australian brand, a great location and an experience built around discovery, education and exceptional service.

“For me, this is also a great example of what can happen when airport, retailer and brand work together with the customer at the centre. When we get that partnership right, we create memorable experiences for travellers and lasting value for everyone involved.”
