Pernod Ricard completes sale of aquavit and bitters to Arcus-Gruppen

INTERNATIONAL. Pernod Ricard has completed the sale of four of its aquavit and bitters brands to Arcus-Gruppen, as well as a production plant, for €103 million.

The sale, announced in July last year, includes the Danish aquavit brands Aalborg and Brøndums, the German brand Malteserkreuz Aquavit and Danish bitters brand Gammel Dansk.

Arcus-Gruppen has also acquired the Aalborg production plant in Denmark as part of the deal, which has satisfied regulatory closing conditions.

Active across the Nordic region, Arcus-Gruppen is involved in operations across three business areas: spirits, wine and distribution.

Commenting on the acquisition last year, CEO Otten Drakenberg said: “Our strategy is to build strong Nordic brands, and the acquisition of these brands is in line with this strategy. We have a long, successful tradition in the field of aquavit as well as appreciable competence in the field of spirits. We are therefore delighted to be able to add these established brands to our portfolio.

“Not only does this acquisition strengthen our position on the Nordic spirits market, but the further development of these brands will allow us to make our portfolio even more attractive on the global market.”
