Playmobil launches its first sustainable product range Wiltopia

Discarded recyclables are given new life and provide the source of material for a colourful and educational play theme

German toy company Playmobil has released Wiltopia, its first product range to be made from an average of over 80% sustainable materials. The colourful and educational line demonstrates how important animals and the environment are to the planet. It is available in Hamleys travel retail stores globally.

The animal figurines are created with two different types of environmentally friendly plastic: PCR plastic which is made with post-consumer recycled plastic, and bio-based plastics.

The Wiltopia range, which includes animals from around the world, is designed to make education fun

Wiltopia’s sustainable ethos stems from the idea of children growing up in a world where animals and nature are respected and protected. The line consists of animals from around the world and makes environmental education accessible in a child-friendly way.

The range features 12 baby animals and 15 medium-sized and large adults.

In addition to the flexible animal figures, each set contains accessories to encourage creative role-play and a collectible card with facts about that species.

The QR code on the collectible card leads to additional content. The web app features an audio clip with child-friendly information and the option to project the animal directly into one’s home via the AR feature.

From September, children will be able to discover the Amazon with the second release of Wiltopia, which will include six new animals.

Each animal includes a fact card with QR code that opens up a whole new world of educational content
