Porsche Design steers men’s line towards statement pieces

GERMANY. German luxury brand Porsche Design is launching its second men’s fashion collection for the Spring/Summer 2010 season.

“As the first men’s collection that was designed entirely in-house proved very successful, the company is once again relying on the same keys to success: a classic, timeless line featuring a high level of functionality,” the company said.

In the second fashion collection, also created entirely in the Porsche Design Studio and designed to appeal to every age group, the company is again focusing on leather jackets.

The most exclusive piece is a jacket produced in a limited-edition run of 100. The company uses hard-wearing and light leather with a paper-like appearance to give the jacket its USP.

The sporty and casual style is emphasised by perforation in the shoulder, sleeve and torso area. Along with the limited-edition jacket, the other leather jackets in the range also feature elaborate details, such as the soft napped goatskin lining in the field jacket.

“Leather has been in fashion for decades, so it fits in perfectly with our timeless and purist design standards,” said Porsche Design Group CEO Dr Juergen Gessler.

“Porsche Design does not follow any trend, but always sets its own accents. Our customers’ feedback on our first collection designed entirely in our studio in Zell am See [Austria] was consistently positive.

“With the new line, we will exceed even these high expectations,” he added.

The men’s collection features a series of fashion classics to complement the leather jackets, including a sporty cardigan in exclusive merino wool and an elegant blazer in the finest cotton.

A T-shirt features a classic image of the brand’s exclusive sunglasses from 1978, thanks to a complex printing process, and is available in black or white.

The men’s collection was launched exclusively in Porsche Design’s own stores, in franchise stores and shop-in-shops worldwide at the end of January 2010.
