INTERNATIONAL. Tax free shopping specialist Premier Tax Free has developed a retail point-of-sale solution that it claims to be “the future of tax-free shopping”.
Premier Kiosk is an interactive self-service solution that allows tourist shoppers to generate their own tax-free forms. Lengthy queues at till points and customers services as well as manual and lengthy paperwork can be eradicated, the company said.
Tax-free shoppers will be identified through card recognition software when making their payments, allowing the consumers to then print their own tax-free forms using in-store kiosks.

Using inbuilt scanners, the tourist can simply scan their passport and sign the form using an inbuilt signature pad. Respecting all local and international regulations, the printed tax-free form is fully compliant, and in some countries, such as France, it is linked to Customs to synchronise with local systems.
Premier Tax Free CEO Patrick Waldron said: “With international shoppers spending up to five times more than domestic shoppers, it’s fundamental that retailers have solutions in place to capitalise on this.

Premier Kiosk is already deployed at top Parisian department store, where it has already proven to be extremely user-friendly with international shoppers, the company aimed.

Premier Tax Free claims that it is the fastest-growing company in its sector. Last year it refunded 91,000 Chinese shoppers the value of €15 million a month; the average Chinese customer was refunded €2,150 a minute.
