Qatar Duty Free renews sponsorship of high-profile tennis events and hosts VR activation

QATAR. Qatar Duty Free (QDF) has announced its renewed sponsorship of two major international tennis tournaments – the Qatar Women’s Total Open 2023 (13-18 February) and the Qatar Men’s ExxonMobil Open 2023 (20-25 February). Both events take place at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha.

To dovetail with the sponsorship, QDF is hosting a booth with a virtual reality (VR) tennis game for spectators. Participants have the opportunity to play simulated tennis in an environment which mirrors the real-world tournament venue centre court, with the highest scorers being rewarded with daily prizes.

The two high profile tennis tournaments are the latest in a series of Qatar Duty Free involvements in major sporting events

Qatar Duty Free Vice President Thabet Musleh said: “Sports is an important part of the identity of Qatar Duty Free. We have been sponsoring the ATP Tennis tournaments for many years, and it is always a pleasure to continue this partnership.

“Last year, Qatar Duty Free played an integral role during the FIFA World Cup Tournament. This year, we are excited to continue our commitment to supporting sports in Qatar by participating in the ATP tournaments.

“We wish all the players in both the Qatar Total Open & Qatar ExxonMobil Open tournaments an enjoyable competition, and look forward to taking part in this world-class championship.”

This latest sports event sponsorship follows on from QDF being named the Official Retail Partner for the recent FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. As a result, the travel retailer showcased a large collection of FIFA Official World Cup merchandise, souvenirs and collectibles, including within a store at Hamad International Airport.

Later this year, QDF will continue its long-standing partnership with the Qatar Golf Association by sponsoring the 26th edition of the Annual 2023 Commercial Bank Qatar Masters. ✈
