Regional jewellery specialist Pure Gold secures three-year concession at Abu Dhabi International Airport – 23/01/08

UAE. Abu Dhabi Duty Free (ADDF) and regional jewellery retailer Pure Gold have signed a three-year partnership for the operation of gold and jewellery stores across all three terminals at Abu Dhabi International Airport.

Pure Gold will manage the shops in Terminals 1 and 2 for the next three years starting 1 April 2008 and will also manage the gold shops in the new Terminal 3 building when it opens later this year.

Present at the signing of the agreement was Dan Cappell, General Manager of ADDF and Acting Commercial Director of Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC), James McLean, Assistant General Manager ADDF, Pure Gold Chairman Firoz Merchant, Managing Director Kareem Merchant and General Manager Amar Nanavati.

“This partnership was chosen in light of our confidence in Pure Gold’s wealth of experience in the local and regional market along with our confidence in their ability to match the ever growing and changing passenger demographic at the airport and their gold and jewellery purchases,” said Cappell.

Firoz Merchant said: “Pure Gold Jewellers is honoured to be working in conjunction with the Abu Dhabi Duty Free to provide travellers [through] Abu Dhabi International Airport with a wide range of gold, diamond, pearl, and coloured stone jewellery.”

The Pure Gold partnership follows the agreement with Sharaf DG in December 2007 for the Electronics concession at Abu Dhabi International Airport. This started operations on 6 January 2008.

ADDF said that negotiations with other businesses across other key categories are currently being assessed.
