RUSSIA. Runway Beauty, the fragrances and cosmetics store at Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport run by Aer Rianta International-led Runway Duty Free, has been judged “˜Best Tenant’ in the summer competition run by airport operator East Line Group.

Each quarter East Line assesses its best tenants in three areas – duty free, general retail and food & beverage. It offers rent rebates to the winners.

The Swarovski boutique, also operated by Runway Duty Free, was granted the duty free award in the previous quarter.

Runway Beauty has two stores at Domodedovo. The first opened in late December 2004, followed by an acclaimed new outlet in June 2005. This elegant second store, which makes impressive use of a shallow space, includes a perfumery as well as dedicated skincare and make-up areas from leading brands.

Personalised furniture was installed for ten brands – Chanel, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Lancôme, Guerlain, Estée Lauder, Clinique, Clarins, Shiseido and La Prairie with Kenzo Ke the latest addition.

The offer was based on detailed market research with Domodedovo passengers which led directly to the new introductions of Shiseido and Clarins.

General Manager John Moriarty told The Moodie Report that skincare and make-up are growing very quickly. Make-up is around 32% of the mix, skincare about 17% and the balance fragrances.

Commenting on the airport recognition, Moriarty said: “I am extremely happy with this award as it is a confirmation of our work on this shop. It has proven to be a major success with passengers and we are very happy with the results to-date. The reward is also a testament to our strong relationship with suppliers as well as to the staff, who have worked extremely hard to make this store what it is”.

Note: John Moriarty and East Line Group are interviewed, and Domodedovo Airport profiled, in the latest issue of The Moodie Report print edition, out next week.
