SWEDEN. Scandinavian airline operator SAS has announced that its total passenger traffic (RPK) for the group, which includes Scandinavian Airlines, Spanair, Braathens and Wideroe, developed well, rising by +5.2% in July versus 2004.
SAS transported 2.8 million passengers in July 2005, an increase of +6.4%. The load factor for July was 74.1%, up 2.4 percentage points compared with the same period last year, making it the best ever for the group.
ASKs increased by +1.8%, resulting in a load factor of 74.1% on the group level, up 2.4 percentage units versus last year.
The operator said intercontinental traffic was up by +3.7% in July, driven by strong growth on Asian routes with traffic up +37.2%. Passenger load factor was up 1.1 percentage units to 86.3%.
SAS European traffic increased and passenger load factor improved by 4.2 percentage units.
