GERMANY. German group Simba-Dickie has created a new duty free and travel retail division called Pro Innovation to showcase its World of Toys merchandising concept.
Talking to The Moodie Report during the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes, Wolfgang Stolpe said the back wall display unit was designed to hold a wide assortment of toys aimed at all age groups, from very young children to teenagers and beyond.
Industry veteran Stolpe, who sold his Schabak model plane firm to Simba-Dickie/Schuco earlier this year, said he had chosen some 200 products out of the thousands available from the group that he believed would fit the requirements of travel retailers.

Stressing the good margins offered, Stolpe added: “We have created a perfect concept with this 2m wall display. A special range of attractive toys for visitors of airports is offered at fair prices and a really good margin. Some exclusive highlights are premium models of airplanes which are running under the brand name Schuco Aviation.”
The diverse range includes dolls, plush toys and keyrings, wooden toys, electronic games such as Sudoku, camera phones, model cars and an airport terminal play set.
