Shenzhen Duty Free Group awarded Changzhou Benniu International Airport departures duty-free contract

The new business will trade under Shenzhen Duty Free Group’s long-established Times’DF Duty Free banner

CHINA. Shenzhen Duty Free Group has snared the departures duty-free contract at Changzhou Benniu International Airport in East China’s Jiangsu province, in what the retailer calls “another achievement to our ‘going out’ strategy”.

Located in the centre of the Yangtze River Delta, the airport is a major aviation hub for the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou metropolitan area, and the third-largest airport in Jiangsu.

The group said the win marks a significant step in its ongoing efforts to strengthen its business presence in East China and reinforces an existing foothold in the key Jiangsu province market.

In recent years, Changzhou Airport has focused on building an international network featuring routes to the Hong Kong and Macau SARs, Vietnam and Thailand, steadily expanding its reach to Southeast Asia and the Greater Bay Area as it moves toward becoming an important regional aviation gateway.

The newly won departure duty-free concession sits in the international departures airside zone and covers an area of 100sq m. The airport welcomed 143,300 international passengers in 2025, providing a solid foundation and strong potential for duty-free consumption, the retailer noted.

Since 2024, Shenzhen Duty Free Group has snapped up several airport duty-free contracts. These include departures concessions at Wuxi Airport, Yangtai Airport and Nantong Airport, as well as the arrivals concession at Wuxi Airport.

With the successful Changzhou Airport bid, the group now enjoys presence in two of the top three airports in Jiangsu. Shenzhen Duty Free Group said this further solidifies its regional business footprint in the province.

Leveraging Jiangsu’s dense aviation network and its integrated industry network, the fast-growing travel retailer said it will tailor-make strategies across product selection, in-store experience and digital services to meet the diverse needs of leisure and business travellers.

These efforts will enhance service quality and consumption appeal at Changzhou Airport, boost duty-free retail’s role in stimulating demand, and support regional consumption upgrades, the company added.

“We plan to use the Changzhou Airport store as a new springboard to strengthen resource coordination and synergy across our Jiangsu projects, accelerating a scalable airport duty-free model,” Shenzhen Duty Free Group concluded.

“As we deepen our presence in the Yangtze River Delta and serves the dual-circulation model, we will continue driving regional growth, writing a new chapter for our core duty-free business.”
