CHINA. Shenzhen Duty Free Group has secured the arrivals duty-free concession at Zhongshan Port in South China, marking what the retailer describes as “another strategic step in the expansion of its water-port duty-free network”.
The 110sq m arrivals duty-free shop will primarily serve ferry passengers travelling from Hong Kong and Macau.
Situated in the heart of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, Zhongshan Port serves as a key gateway connecting the west bank of the Pearl River Estuary (where the Pearl River meets the South China Sea) with Hong Kong and Macau.

In 2025, the port served around 630,000 passengers through multiple ferry routes to Hong Kong China Ferry Terminal, Hong Kong International Airport, Taipa (Macau) and Shekou (Shenzhen), with Hong Kong and Macau routes accounting for over 96% of the total.
Shenzhen Duty Free Group said the routes represent a solid customer base with strong spending potential.
Deepening its Greater Bay Area footprint has long been a strategic priority, noted Shenzhen Duty Free Group. The company has already developed a broad duty free network in its home city of Shenzhen, and built up operational expertise in port duty-free management through its presence at key water-transit hubs such as Guangzhou Pazhou Ferry Terminal.
The company said that the latest win represents an extension of its duty-free network from the east bank to the west bank of the Pearl River, and will enhance its store synergies and strategic development across the region.
The upcoming store is designed to serve the “high-frequency, quality-conscious consumption” of Hong Kong/Macau-Zhongshan travellers, the company added in a statement.
The retailer said it will leverage product curation, retail experience and operational efficiency to elevate Zhongshan Port’s service capabilities and unleash new consumption potential.
Shenzhen Duty Free Group pledged to use the new store as a springboard to further deepen its Greater Bay Area port duty-free network.
