UK. Sim Local, which claims to be the world’s largest pre-paid SIM card provider to the travel sector, has opened two new stores at Heathrow Airport. The shops are in the landside arrivals hall in Terminal 4 and the baggage hall of Terminal 2.
In addition to offering local SIM cards to global travellers so they can stay connected and avoid expensive roaming charges, the stores offer a curated range of mobile accessories.

The company noted that the two new locations are both key for local SIM card sales, with T4 host to a high proportion of non-EU flights. The baggage hall model has already proved successful in numerous locations across Europe, including in Heathrow T3.
The two new stores for Sim Local at Heathrow take the brand’s total at the London travel hub to eight, including at least one in each terminal. They add to other airport stores in Athens and Brussels and a worldwide network of vending machines and affiliate partnerships.

Sim Local Chief Trading Officer Ian Rankin said: “The opening of our latest store at T4 sees Sim Local operate at least one store in every terminal at London Heathrow, a long-held ambition for the business. Coupled with the new baggage hall unit in Terminal 2 we now run a total of eight stores in Heathrow.”
He added: “We continue to explore opportunities to bring our market-leading SIM card stores to other airport locations worldwide as well as ensure that all travellers passing through Heathrow are catered for.”
Heathrow Retail & Property Director Fraser Brown said: “As the UK’s front door, we are delighted to welcome long-standing partner Sim Local’s brand-new stores to the airport. Heathrow strives to provide passengers with a diverse retail experience and these two stores will enable our inbound passengers to stay connected to their loved ones at a lower cost whilst staying in the UK.”
