SSP America taps Prohibition-era New York with Gotham Speakeasy at John F. Kennedy Airport T4

USA. SSP America has collaborated with JFK International Air Terminal (JFKIAT) to open Gotham Speakeasy, a Prohibition-era inspired cocktail bar, in New York John F. Kennedy International Airport Terminal 4.

Part of the terminal’s ongoing transformation, the concept channels 1920s New York, drawing on the city’s storied speakeasy culture, from discreet basement bars to glamorous social hubs patronised by artists and tastemakers.

Gotham Speakeasy combines Art Deco styling with a contemporary edge, positioning itself as a premium bar-led offer designed to deliver a strong sense of place within one of the US airport sector’s busiest terminals.

The beverage programme is anchored in classic cocktail craftsmanship, complemented by modern interpretations of pre-Prohibition favourites.

The menu features New York-themed signature serves, such as Flatiron’s Bloody Fix, Southside of Tequila, Thyme to the Staten Island Ferry and Big Apple Mule, alongside gin-forward options, including Oculus Glint and Hell’s Kitchen Hive.

Zero-proof cocktails are also offered, developed with the same focus on balance and flavour, supported by a broad beer and wine selection.

The accompanying food menu includes items such as Shrimp Cocktail, Marinated Olives, Ham & Cheese Toastie, Burrata with roasted tomatoes, Chicken Caesar Salad and a dedicated breakfast offering.

JFKIAT CEO Roel Huinink said, “With the opening of Gotham Speakeasy and our continued partnership with SSP, we continue to deepen T4’s connection to New York City’s spirit and story.

“We are excited for our passengers to experience a culinary and design-driven concept that captures the rich history, energy and character of the city we call home.”

SSP America CEO George Mboya commented: “Gotham Speakeasy captures the essence of New York’s cocktail culture: bold, creative, and deeply rooted in history. Not only does Gotham deliver a true taste of place, it also delivers a taste of a specific time.

“Travellers passing through JFK T4 now have the opportunity for a layover in the golden age of the cocktail with a menu that invites guests to slow down, connect and enjoy a moment of classic style.”

The opening forms part of JFKIAT’s wider T4 North Star initiative, which aims to elevate the terminal’s overall passenger experience. ‍
