INDIA. Sultania Trade Private Limited, a leading Mumbai-based distributor of alcoholic beverages, has established an international division to focus on bottled-in-origin (BIO) products, with A.M. David as Vice President.
Established in 1991, the company became a distributor of imported BIO products in 2001 after taking up the distribution of UB Group’s International Division products.
Sultania introduced into the Indian market Skyy vodka, followed by entry-level French wine JJ & Cie. The company also launched Sierra tequila and The Famous Grouse Scotch whisky.

In addition, Sultania has exclusive representation of the following brands/companies:
• Cantina de Soave – a leading Italian wine co-operative from the Veneto region for its Le-Poesie range of Venetian wines
• Mazzetti de Altavilla – the leading quality grappa manufacturer from the Piedmont region in Italy
• Ill Dezzani srl – an Asti Spumante producer from Asti, Italy
• GCF (Les Grands Chais de France) – a wine producer from Landiras, Bordeaux for its JJ & Cie range of wines and Grandial Blanc de Blanc Demi Sec sparkling wine
• Vins Breban – a French producer of sparkling Pinot Noir rose wines
• Gekkeikan Sake Company Ltd from Kyoto, Japan for its sakes and plum wine
• Tiki Tequila of America for its Voodoo Tiki super-premium flavoured tequila
• The Edrington Group for its The Famous Grouse Scotch and The Macallan Elegancia Malt whiskies
• The Lion Brewery Ceylon Ltd for Carlsberg
• Destileria Porfidio SA from Jalisco, Mexico for Porfidio single agave triple-distilled Plata and El Caballo Estrella gold and silver tequila
• Vina Santa Carolina SA from Chile for Premio DOC Central Valley Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
According to the company, it is now focused on leveraging its strength in domestic distribution to place these international brands into all types of outlets in Mumbai.
The company also has affiliates/arrangements in Goa and Kolkata where imported BIO products are consumed. It says it is open to further alliances with like-minded producers who are committed to developing the Indian market.
