AUSTRIA. Swarovski has signed its first licensing deal, with US giant Walt Disney, to produce figurines and jewellery based on the famous Disney characters. The figurines – celebrating Disney’s centenary this year – are already available in-store, retailing at between US$250 and US$350.

Stars of the company’s booth at last month’s IAADFS Duty Free Show of the Americas were the six iconic Disney characters, in Swarovski’s signature faceted crystal. Other items in the Disney collection include a ring with dangling Mickey Mouse ears, priced at US$70; and a limited-edition brooch depicting Mickey and Swarovski’s signature mouse character.

New giftware and home décor products

Swarovski also took the opportunity to show buyers its new Mega Birds line extensions, featuring a green macau and a cockatoo with a multi-coloured tail. Additions to the home décor collection include candy dishes, tealight holders and a vase.

For spring/summer 05, Swarovski has produced fashion jewellery with a tropical theme, featuring mother-of-pearl details. Also on show was a range of embroidered handbags, a growing product category for the firm, stamped with the Swarovski logo.
