‘The pinnacle of luxury’ – Brown-Forman to launch Benriach 50 Year Old at TFWA Asia Pacific

Brown-Forman Global Travel Retail is to launch Benriach 1966 Cask Aged 50 Years, the oldest-ever expression from the Scotch whisky distillery, at the TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference in Singapore this week.

The brand owner said Benriach 50 Year Old (ABV 44.5%) “embodies the pinnacle of luxury and exclusivity in Scotch whisky” and showcases Benriach at its most complex.

Distillery pinnacle expression: The Benriach 1966 Cask Aged 50 Years in its John Galvin-created presentation box

Just 37 bottles of the product (RRP £25,000) will be available worldwide, including five to be sold in the global travel retail channel.

Benriach 50 Year Old comes in a bespoke crystal decanter, made in Scotland by Glasstorm. Each decanter is housed in a presentation box made by Master Craftsman John Galvin, its design inspired by the colourful array of eclectic casks that fill the Benriach warehouses.

Brown-Forman said Benriach Distillery can lay claim to some of the richest, most inventive and multi-layered whiskies in Speyside, Scotland. The ability to nurture flavour has been informed by the Distillery’s heritage in maturing an eclectic array of casks from across the world.

“Over many decades, this has granted an expert understanding of what makes the exceptional cask,” the brand owner noted.

For many years now, this expertise has been in the hands of renowned Benriach Master Blender Dr Rachel Barrie. Bourbon cask 2383 – which was filled with unpeated Benriach spirit on 21 September 1966 – has been selected for the 50 Year Old expression, handpicked for its “exceptional character”. It has matured through the decades in Benriach’s Speyside warehouses.

Brown-Forman Marketing Director Global Travel Retail Stéphane Morizet said: “We are thrilled to offer five of the just 37 bottles of Benriach 50 Year Old to our valued global travel retail (GTR) partners.

“It is the finest portrayal of Benriach’s signature fruit-laden style, with unrivalled complexity and luxurious refinement. The GTR allocation underscores the importance of this market to Brown-Forman and highlights our commitment to delivering exceptional luxury editions to travellers.”
