“The Riviera experience:” Estivale opening completes ambitious Nice Airport commercial project

FRANCE. Double Michelin-star chef Mauro Colagreco has hailed the opening of his Bar Restaurant Estivale at Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, which rounds off the commercial transformation of Terminal 2. The celebrated chef opened his latest outlet in April, in partnership with SSP, with the aim of delivering a strong Sense of Place from the Mediterranean region.

As reported, in late 2014, Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur launched its investment at Nice T1 and T2 to create “the most surprising commercial experience in a European airport”. Colagreco, the Italian-Argentine who leads the celebrated Mirazur restaurant in Menton, and who is the world’s third best chef according to The World’s 50 Best Restaurants, added the final touch to the project.

He said: “The menu clearly highlights local products, and that’s very important to me. The Riviera experience begins at the airport and gastronomy is, in this context, an important element of the art of living on the Riviera.”

He hailed Estivale as a “bistronomic” restaurant that is “contemporary, sunny and creative”.

Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur said in a statement: “SSP and the Chef have transferred the codes of the restaurant Mirazur and imagined a clean space with natural materials, all in a genuinely cosy atmosphere with views of the runways. Here, Mauro Colagreco has created a menu that transmits his vision of cuisine: creative, generous, and giving pride of place to Mediterranean products and specialities.”

An important feature, noted the airport company, is that Estivale is located landside in Terminal 2 and is therefore accessible to passengers departing or arriving, and to other visitors.
