Dark inspiration: Thomas Sabo’s Autumn/Winter 2006 sterling silver collection features traditional cameos

GERMANY. Thomas Sabo’s Autumn/Winter 2006 sterling silver collection is designed to capture the sensuality of the cold seasons.

Reflections is a collection of seven jewellery lines offering a variety of looks that go well multi-layered with autumn and winter clothing, and said to be ideal for winter balls.

Dark, earthy colours dominate the collection:

Crème au chocolat: A combination of white, champagne, coffee, olive and opaque brown cubic zirconia stones on sterling silver. Comprises necklaces, earrings, studs, rings, a brooch and a bracelet.

Berkshire: Olive green stones set off the brown monochrome. Inspired by the English countryside, the line uses a combination of cubic zirconia stones in white, champagne, coffee and olive, set in sterling silver. An array of necklaces, earring, studs, rings and bracelets.

Romantisme noir: Elegant black-and-white necklaces, rings, earrings, bracelet and brooch. Black cubic zirconia set against white cubic zirconia and sterling silver provide the chic, while the five-petal bud design reinforces the romantic theme.

The Da Sabo Code: Christian relics, heraldry and the Gothic movement are the design references for the line, said to be inspired by the movie The Da Vinci Code. Sabo offers a modern take on the cross, updating it with white and black cubic zirconias on silver and textile black band. The line comprises necklaces, earrings, rings and a bracelet. The brand name is engraved on pendants and on some of the earrings and rings.

The cameo ladies: A collection of cameo necklaces, earrings, bracelet and brooch in black and white. The collection emerges from a two-fold story, according to Thomas Sabo. Firstly, the classical origins of the cameo: jewels with carved reliefs on lava stone and shells were treasured by the Greeks and Romans. Secondly, their contemporary renaissance. Thomas Sabo’s Creative Director Susanne Kölbli came across a company in Europe that still has the traditional tools required for handcrafting cameos.

Pur Déco: Large chandelier earrings and pendants borrow heavily from the 1920s Art Deco period. Black and white are the favoured colours, with white mother-of-pearl and black onyx as the prominent elements, complemented by black and white cubic zirconias.

Fade to grey: The most subtle and sophisticated line features dark simulated man-made pearls on silver. It comprises a necklace, a bracelet, earrings, studs and rings.
