Born and raised in Bombay (Mumbai), Syama moved to Dubai in 2005 where she joined Diageo and has been in travel retail ever since. After a brief spell with premium chocolate house Godiva, she joined Brown-Forman in February 2021 and hasn’t looked back since.
A wide-ranging discussion takes in the subject of International Women’s Day and how the drinks sector – historically male-dominated – has evolved in terms of equality. Syama has warm words of praise for Brown-Forman in this regard but says much still needs to be done elsewhere in the industry.
