AUSTRIA. Vegan cuisine concept Veganista/The Lala Shop has opened a 70sq m outlet at Vienna Airport Terminal 3. This extends the presence of the brand, founded and owned by sisters Susanna Paller and Cecilia Havmöller, to a second location at the airport after it debuted at Terminal 1 in 2022.
Veganista/The Lala Shop offers ice cream, salty and sweet dishes plus a range of coffees.
The new store was officially opened by Cecilia Havmöller and Susanna Paller together with Vienna Airport Joint CEO and COO Julian Jäger.
Jäger said: “More top-notch Austrian cuisine is now available at the airport. We are gratified to be able to open another Veganista/The Lala Shop at the airport just in time for the start of the summer holidays. Thanks to this expansion, we offer an even bigger selection of modern vegan cuisine with healthy snacks, ice cream and meals of high organic quality to our passengers, guests and employees. The second shop not only strengthens our culinary offering but also intensifies our successful cooperation with Vienna’s local heroes.”
Cecilia Havmöller and Susanna Paller said in a statement: “We are extremely pleased with the opening of a second shop at Vienna Airport and are proud to further expand the joint and good collaboration with the airport team. This store opening also strengthens our resolve to fulfil our mission to get vegan delicacies to the people. An international travel hub such as Vienna Airport is the perfect place for this.”
The new outlet is located close to F gates in T3. The offer features 100% vegan food made from regional organic ingredients, free of artificial additives and packed without plastic. The menu is not only vegan but also kosher and Halal. It also complements the airport’s sustainability strategy, said the partners.
Having been inspired by vegan concepts from Los Angeles, Havmöller and Paller developed their own ice cream parlour blending “Californian joie de vivre and regional quality,” in 2013. Since then, they have opened 12 Veganista branches throughout Austria, plus one The LaLa restaurant in Vienna (2019) and now two units at Vienna Airport.
