GERMANY. Fraport recorded about 3.3 million passengers at Frankfurt airport in February, +0.8% more than a year ago. Following +7% passenger growth in January 2003, February’s results reflected the reluctance of passengers to book, due to fears of a possible Iraq War.
Fraport said destinations in North Africa and southern Europe particularly experienced declining demand. By contrast, inter-continental passenger traffic contributed strongly. Destinations in North America and the Caribbean also experienced traffic growth, as did the classic growth markets of China and India.
