WATCHES & JEWELLERY: Swatch unveils new ‘Skin’ and ‘Irony’ seasonal collections

SWITZERLAND. Contemporary trends and ethnic shades inspire two new collections launched by Swatch for the winter/fall season.

The Swatch Irony Collection employs a variety of materials to bring individuality to each watch, including knitwear, leather, stainless steel and rubber.

Highlights in the Irony range include three feminine styles in the lady lady collection. From a stainless steel cuff bracelet watch containing injected resin circles in trendy fall colours (pictured) to a petite elegant watch with a braided black leather band, these original new models are designed to appeal to a variety of personalities.

For the men’s range in the Irony collection, the focus is on the active lifestyle, and Swatch has introduced a contemporary spin on the more traditional look of sport watches. The Diaphane Chrono and Chrono Alu models feature synthetic straps, the former with a black strap and red stitching and the latter with a red strap and white stitching. Both have a sliver aluminium case and buckle.

The Swatch Skin Collection is inspired by various South Asian colours and earth tones.

Highlights in this 19-model range include the unique Golden Cry (pictured). With a stainless steel strap, this watch features three rows of chains created by stainless steel links enhanced with elliptical trinkets in copper, bronze and silver colours.

The Sweet Sarong model has a fabric strap with embroidery resembling traditional south Asian patterns; whereas Jardin d’orient features a strap decorated with leaf imagery coloured in warm hues (pictured, right).

Other models include Bareskin, a plain black simple design with light black Arabic numerals, and Sparkling Queen, which features a mesh of pentagon-shaped metal tiles each with a faux-stone attached to the strap.
