FRANCE. Women in Travel Retail (WiTR) is partnering with TFWA in a special event on Tuesday 26 October at Carlton Beach, Cannes.
The TFWA Lounge will be dedicated to WiTR from 6.30pm until 9pm, but open to women and men alike.
The gathering replaces WiTR’s traditional networking event which usually takes place during the TFWA World Exhibition. According to the group, the event was challenging to organise due to ongoing COVID restrictions.
In the past, the WiTR event has raised substantial sums for selected charities in many countries. For the second consecutive year, WiTR is raising money for Impact HK, which supports the homeless in Hong Kong with a particular focus on women and the aged. Women on the streets, as in many other cities, are particularly vulnerable and susceptible to abuse and attack.
TFWA Lounge guests will be invited to make a voluntary contribution to the charity.
WiTR President Sarah Branquinho said: “Strong relationships are key to the success of the duty free and travel retail community and WiTR members, like many others, are really looking forward to the opportunity to meet face to face at TFWA in Cannes.
“After such a turbulent period, this will be the perfect opportunity to celebrate with all colleagues in the industry as we join to revitalise our fabulous industry.”
A spokesperson for the TFWA Board added: “We are very pleased with the platform the TFWA Lounge will provide the WiTR association to offer the visibility that women in travel retail deserve. TFWA and WiTR look forward to welcoming all attendees of the TFWA Exhibition to the lounge to celebrate the re-emergence of a vibrant travel retail channel and contribute to a meaningful charitable cause.”
