INTERNATIONAL. The newly renamed Women in Travel Retail (WiTr) is holding its annual fundraiser at the TFWA World Exhibition next month in aid of All As One, a charity based in Sierra Leone.
As reported, WiTr – renamed to distinguish it from a similarly named organisation in the travel industry – announced All As One as its chosen charity for 2014 at the TFWA Asia Pacific in May, and underlined its mission to raise €25,000 for a new lorry. The vehicle will transport building materials for a children’s home, a school and a medical centre, saving the charity €46,000 in costs. After the project is complete, All As One will rent the new lorry to provide a steady stream of income for the new facilities.
This year’s fundraiser will take place on Tuesday 28 October (5.30-7.00pm) on level 1 in front of the newly located Press Centre, near the Business Centre and Hotels Desk at the Palais des Festivals.
Fundraising has already begun with commitments from the industry of donations and auction and raffle prizes for the grand draw. Companies donating prizes are urged to deliver them to the Furla stand (Bay Village Bay 15) by 3.00pm on Tuesday 28 October. As in previous years, each business card entry into the draw raises €10 while three entries will raise €20.
