THAILAND. King Power International Group, the country’s dominant travel retailer, yesterday celebrated the award of a rare royal accolade.
The company was recently conferred with a royal warrant – the Royal Garuda sculpture – becoming one of only 41 companies in Thailand to have ever received the prestigious recognition from the King of Thailand.

Senior management, led by Group Chairman & CEO Vichai Raksriaksorn and the Board of Directors, held the Royal Garuda sculpture-raising ceremony yesterday morning.
The sculpture was raised onto the top of King Power’s offices at the King Power Complex on Rangnum Road.

The company said it was a great honour to be granted the royal warrant by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
His Holiness Somdet Buddhacharya, also known as Kiaw Aupaseno, acting Supreme Patriach, presided over yesterday’s ceremony along with nine monks in conducting the Buddhist rites process.
Keokhwan Vajarodaya, Lord Chamberlain of the Bureau of the Royal Palace, stated at the earlier handing-over ceremony in late October: “I would like to congratulate King Power Duty Free on the auspicious granting of the Royal Garuda emblem.
“This emblem signifies the royal warrant for the company as an enterprise that has been steadfastly operating with transparency, virtue and trustworthiness, and one that has shown loyalty to the royal household and His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
“In appreciation, this Royal Garuda emblem is granted to the company as an encouragement to maintain their status as an excellent example of a successful and supportive business in Thailand for many years to come.”
