Aelia Duty Free set to make Australian debut at Adelaide Airport

AUSTRALIA. LS travel retail Pacific is set to bring Aelia Duty Free to Australia for the first time at Adelaide Airport, scheduled for opening in late October.

The travel retailer will complete a major refit of the landside and airside stores as part of an extension of the duty free concession, increasing the duty free footprint and bringing a number of new categories and brands to the airport.

The new-look stores will follow the same formula the retailer recently unveiled at Queenstown Airport, marrying the Aelia Duty Free concept with big name brands and a strong Sense of Place.

Highlights will include a dedicated South Australian wine offer – showcasing both Penfolds and Jacobs Creek – under the retailer’s “˜Icons of South Australia’ banner, and an expanded technology accessories offer under “˜tech2go’. New categories will see tablets, smartphones, watches, jewellery and travel retail confectionery added to the mix.

LS plans to bring to Adelaide the same blend of store design, big name brands and Sense of Place as it recently unveiled at Queenstown Airport

Core categories will also receive a makeover: the company’s planned expansion of the perfumes & cosmetics offer will see the introduction of new brands such as Napoleon Perdis, Givenchy and L’Occitane; complemented by developments from existing brands such as Chanel, Dior, Estée Lauder, Clarins, YSL, OPI, Lancôme, Elizabeth Arden and Jurlique.

In liquor, the store will have a special focus on whisky – said to be the number one category in the South Australian domestic market – with a number of personalisations from key brands.

LS travel retail Pacific General Manager Duty Free Ivo Favotto commented: “Adelaide Airport has been a valued partner of ours for many years. Their forward-thinking approach and commitment towards building exceptional passenger experiences gives us licence to bring a number of innovations to play. Dynamic store environments, new brands, categories – you can expect something exciting when Aelia Duty Free arrives at Adelaide Airport.”

LS travel retail Pacific CEO Matt Mercier said the development reflects the company’s ambitions in duty free: “The launch of Aelia Duty Free in Australia is another important step in our plans to be a leading duty free player in the region. Our goal is to create fantastic duty free experiences that exceed passenger expectations. We achieve this by blending global expertise with our deep knowledge and insight into the local market. By working closely with Adelaide Airport and our vendor partners we are building a duty free experience that exemplifies this approach.”

Adelaide Airport Ltd Managing Director Mark Young said: “The continuation of the successful partnership between Adelaide Airport and LS travel retail is excellent news. The change to Aelia Duty Free at Adelaide Airport will result in a wider range of well-known brands and the inclusion of a variety of South Australian products, specifically designed to showcase our state’s premium products to our international travellers.”
