Aéroports de Paris to consider LCC terminal at Clark International

PHILIPPINES. Philippine authorities have appointed Aéroports de Paris Ingénierie (ADPI) to carry out feasibility and development studies for a new terminal serving low-cost carriers at Clark International Airport.

The prospective terminal will have capacity for 15 million passenger per year, improving access to the northern part of Luzon and relieving pressure off Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). Clark International is located 90km to the north of Manila.

“Mainly dedicated to low-cost airlines, this new project, which is notable for its challenging requirements in terms of performance and efficiency, goes right to the core expertise of ADPI’s teams,” said ADPI Chief Executive Guillaume Sauvé.

“It will strengthen ADPI’s foothold in Asia, where much of the growth in global air traffic is set to come from over the coming years.”

Clark International has been open to commercial traffic since 1993

ADPI’s project will be financed by FASEP-Etudes, a development aid fund managed by the French government.

As previously reported, local businesses have been putting pressure on the Philippines government to speed up the development of Clark International, with calls for it to become the second component of a national dual-hub policy.

Clark International has been open to commercial traffic since 1993 and handled 1.32 million passengers in 2012.
