Alpha LSG to double size of facilities with Manchester Airport warehouse opening

UK. Alpha LSG, the UK’s largest inflight catering, onboard retail and logistics company has announced the opening of a new bonded warehouse that will double the size of the company’s existing facilities at the World Freight Terminal at Manchester Airport.

The business is opening a new state-of-the-art premises on the ICON Manchester Airport City site. It will become home to a 102,500 sq ft Bonded Warehouse operation, housing a 7,500 sq ft office block. The company’s existing flight catering unit in Manchester will remain in place.

Alpha LSG Chief Executive Officer Alex Forbes said: “This new building is a significant investment in our future in Manchester and beyond. We see this as an opportunity to launch lots of new improved initiatives across our entire network such as agile working, wellbeing in the workplace and interactive communications to name but a few.”

He added: “Over the next 12 to 18 months we will have a dedicated implementation team working to ensure a smooth transition to our new building which we anticipate will be open and operational by winter 2020.”

Alpha LSG has combined revenues of more than £300 million and employs around 3,600 people who provide catering services from facilities located at 16 airports through the UK.

Its other main UK facility is located at Heston, close to London Heathrow Airport.
