US. Andrea Robinson has been appointed to the newly-created position of Chief Marketing Officer, Estée Lauder brand. Robinson is currently President of Ralph Lauren Fragrances Worldwide (part of the L’Oréal group), a role she has held since 2001.
Robinson will lead global marketing for the Estée Lauder brand skincare, make-up and fragrance worldwide. She will take up her new position sometime “this spring” and will report directly to Estée Lauder Global Brand President John Demsey.
“Andrea is a strong, innovative and extremely talented marketer,” commented Demsey. “She brings such a broad perspective to the brand, calling on her unique and vast experience in the beauty and fashion industries. I am thrilled to have her join the team.”
Robinson has worked in the beauty and fashion industry for over 30 years. She started her career within media, holding posts as Senior Fashion Editor at Mademoiselle, Beauty Editor and Creative Director for Seventeen magazine and Beauty Editor at Vogue.
She then made her mark on the brand side of the business, serving as President of Ultima II, President of Revlon’s department store marketing division and then joining L’Oreal USA as General Manager of Helena Rubinstein.
Since 2001. Robinson has held the post of President of Ralph Lauren Fragrances Worldwide, after serving as its General Manager from 1997. There she presided over the successful launches of Ralph Lauren Romance and Ralph Lauren Romance Men, both top-selling fragrances and back-to-back FiFi award winners, as well as Polo Blue and Ralph, among others.
Reporting to Robinson will be the Estée Lauder brand Global Marketing team. Estée Lauder Senior Vice President Global Marketing Peter Lichtenthal has been earmarked to provide critical assistance to Robinson during this transition period.
“Peter Lichtenthal has led the global marketing effort for the brand for four years and has been a driving force in the brand for the past 16 years,” said Estée Lauder Companies Chief Operating Officer Dan Brestle. “He has been earmarked for a senior position at the Estée Lauder Companies with an announcement forthcoming.”
Robinson’s appointment follows hot on the heels of Thia Breen’s return to the brand, as Estée Lauder President North America.
